Georgia’s administrator is the Unclaimed Property Program of the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) — unlike most states, the function sits with Revenue rather than the Treasurer. DOR takes custody of dormant intangible property, including unclaimed surplus reported from foreclosure and tax-sale distributions, and holds it for owners and heirs.

Searching and claiming are free; registration for a free claimant account is required to file. Most claims are paid within 30 days of receipt.
How surplus escheats here
Unclaimed foreclosure/tax-sale surplus in georgia not claimed from the disbursing party is reported and remitted to DOR’s Unclaimed Property Program under the custodial model in escheat-and-unclaimed-property.
