Agency
Unclaimed property in Nevada is administered by the Office of the Nevada State Treasurer, Unclaimed Property Division. Office: 555 E. Washington Ave., Suite 5200, Las Vegas, NV 89101; phone (702) 486-4140; email Unclaimedproperty@nevadatreasurer.gov. The Division states it is solely a custodian and never takes ownership of the funds. (Source: Nevada State Treasurer unclaimed-property pages, retrieved 2026-06-02.)

How surplus escheats here
When a tax-foreclosure or mortgage-foreclosure sale generates a surplus that the former owner never claims, the funds follow the path described in escheat-and-unclaimed-property: after the disbursing office’s own claim window runs, the residue is reported and delivered to the State Treasurer as a dormant intangible, held custodially — a point the Division states expressly (“solely a custodian … will never take ownership”). For Nevada-specific surplus mechanics (Nevada uses non-judicial trustee’s sales for deeds of trust) and the disbursing office, see nevada Module 3.
The general statutory dormancy period and any surplus cite under the Nevada Uniform
Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act (NRS ch. 120A) are needs_verification against the
primary statute. (Source: Nevada State Treasurer, retrieved 2026-06-02.)
Claiming
Search by name at https://www.nvup.gov/ , then file a claim and upload documents (the Treasurer notes online upload offers the fastest processing); claims may also be mailed to the Las Vegas office. The owner, estate, or lawful heir may claim. Proof typically required: government-issued photo ID, Social Security number, and documentation linking the claimant to the reported address/property; estates and heirs submit additional probate or heirship documentation. There is no fee to file directly with the State.
▸ For Investors / Operators. Surplus reaching the Treasurer’s custodial fund does not revive a trustor’s redemption interest or cloud title acquired at a Nevada trustee’s sale — it only reroutes money owed to the former owner. Confirm the disbursing office and any pre-escheat window on nevada.
▸ For Former Owners. If a trustee’s sale or tax foreclosure on your former Nevada property left a surplus you never claimed, search https://www.nvup.gov/ by your name and prior addresses; the Treasurer holds it custodially and filing directly is free. For estate, multi-heir, or contested claims handled end-to-end, .
